Executive Summary
The African Business Icons Dialogue & Awards are being organized by The Business Executive (TBE) Communications Group, an Accra headquartered publishing, special business & corporate events, trade and investment, business networking, promotion and facilitation, and professional capacity building conglomerate that is active on a pan African level and which also serves as a business, finance, investment and marketing link between Africa and the rest of the world. The TBE Group is organizing this unique event with the collaboration and support of the African Chamber of Trade and the International Business Council.
This is the second edition of this watershed event, and it is coming on the heels of the first one held in 2024/2025. The theme for the upcoming second edition is: The changing operating framework for business in Africa.
Over the years, our engagement with women entrepreneurs, corporate executives, business leaders, innovators, professionals and public sector leaders across Africa has revealed several common challenges. These include the need for affordable working capital, growth financing, access to investment capital, stronger corporate partnerships, regional and international market opportunities, professional advisory services and sustainable succession planning.
This year’s event comprises two main segments of which the climax is an awards conferment event that will culminate a painstaking awards nomination, assessment and selection process by identifying and publicly recognizing business entrepreneurs and managers, investors, financiers and business support service providers, as well as business promoters and facilitators, from all around Africa, who have gained iconic status because of their conduct, performance, achievements and impacts. Both individuals and business organizations will be eligible and can therefore be considered for conferment with Business Icons awards, and the winners would subsequently be regarded both around the continent and among Africa’s trade and investment partners and counterparties as the most capable and reliable individuals, enterprises and institutions to do business with or be regulated/facilitated by.
The awards selection process will be comprehensive and therefore credible. Awardees will be selected using a multi-stage selection process involving the findings of our dedicated research consultants and ultimately our specially constituted Awards Selection Jury comprising identified experts on business, trade and investment activities, including their promotion, regulation and facilitation in Africa and its relations with the rest of the world. We have opted to use expert selection rather than public voting to avoid the distortionary effects of narrow sovereign country interests and emotion, rather than objective voting decisions by members of the public.
